The effect Bruce has had on my life is profound. There’s no question that knowing him has changed me, changed my relationship to the world, profoundly. I’ll admit that there were times when I felt restrained, somewhat…bridled. There were times when the mission seemed like a lot to carry…Times, even, when I wondered if the whole thing didn’t go against my essential nature. More often, though, this work that I’ve done with Bruce has felt like an avocation, a perfect expression of everything I’ve ever been capable of becoming. And I know in my heart that I would have been lost without it. Just like I know in my heart that I have to find my way back…

Let’s get one thing straight—Dick and Damian never slapped Jason around. The only time they fought Jason Todd, it was early on in Battle for the Cowl (the beginning of Issue 2), and both Damian and Dick got their asses handed to them. Hell, it ended with Damian shot and needing 80-someodd stitches. The time Dick actually beats Jason at the end, the only contribution Damian makes is saving Dick from some sort of explosion. (Also, I hate you Grant Morrison for making me look through Battle for the Cowl again to double-check. A part of my soul dies whenever I look at it). This makes me doubt that Morrison actually read Battle for the Cowl, and you know what? I don’t blame him.

Also, Jason doesn’t see Damian as a threat at all. Just like Damian, Jason has this bad habit of underestimating everyone in this arc. Then again, after Damian’s piss poor performance in Battle for the Cowl, I’d underestimate him too.

Can you tell I hate Battle for the Cowl yet?

Hey, don’t talk smack about Battle for The Cowl, it was what got me into comics! … And Damian was insanely out of character. As was Jason. BUT STILL. NOSTALGIA.

Everything about Battle for The Cowl was terrible. It was kind of a cluster-fuck of badness.
