Wonder Woman #184, October 2002, cover by Adam Hughes
FUN FACT: I was an intern at DC when Hughes turned this cover in, and apparently, the way he got that effect was by drawing a classic Wonder Woman cover and then putting the board under a couch cushion for a few weeks to let all the sitting wear it out. Once that was done, he scanned, colored and drew in the modern Wonder Woman, and there you have it.

Jim Lee: Ripping himself off and actual iconic couples (Lois & Clark in For Tomorrow, Bruce & Selina in Hush) because Superman and Wonder Woman are either not inspiring enough to be iconic in their own right yet, not inspiring enough to get his creative juices flowing, or both. I’m not sure. Regardless of how consciously and deliberately he made his artistic choices, one wonders what this says about Mr. Lee. Is he a hack, a one trick pony, or all of the above?
I’m not really a fan of Jim Lee, but I don’t really have a problem with how he’s reused poses. At least, unlike Liefeld, he has some talent.
