The second best thing about space travel is that the distances involved make war very difficult, usually impractical, and almost always unnecessary. This is probably a loss for most people, since war is our race’s most popular diversion, one which gives purpose and color to dull and stupid lives. But it is a great boon to the intelligent man who fights only when he must—never for sport.— Robert A. Heinlein, Time Enough For Love – 1973 (via trevoredwards)

Was reading…
Fear Itself by Michael Reaves and Steven-Elliot Altman when I came across a passage where Bruce was attending his own Masquerade Party as Zorro. He then went on to describe how the Zorro costume made him want to swagger. I got a pretty good laugh out of it, and thought I’d share it.
Five minutes later Bruce started for the entrance hall. He was resisting the urge to swagger; there was something about the Zorro costume that was swagger-inducing. Odd, really. It was just a mask and a cape, after all; not so different from the cowl and cloak he wore nearly every night. And yet his “work clothes” inspired no desire to swagger.
Must be the sleeves, he thought.
Forgot about this until I was going through a tag trying to find something. It was actually a pretty decent Batman novel overall.

You attend the funeral, you bid the dead farewell. You grieve. Then you continue with your life. And at times the fact of her absence will hit you like a blow to the chest, and you will weep. But this will happen less and less as time goes on. She is dead. You are alive. So live.— Neil Gaiman – The Sandman, Vol. 6: Fables and Reflections
