juvjuvychan replied to your post: Just a small rant about something that eats me…
this is actually why I feel massively uncomfortable going into comic shops alone because guys either STARE like I’m some alien creature test me because omg a girl can’t like comics, or treat me like an idiot child
Same! That’s why as of recently I’ve been getting my comics online just so I could avoid going into any store to pick them up. I hate dealing with the sexist b.s. Or just guys asking me a ton a questions to test my knowledge. It’s insane.
whaaaat?! That’s crazy! I’d love to be able to have a conversation with a woman about comics!

I hate the fact that
I can count on one hand the people working at DC who can accurately write Jason Todd and Tim Drake. They’re both complex characters, sure, but they aren’t by any means hard to write. As a writer, I know that as long as you do your homework there isn’t such a thing as a character that’s hard to write. And people who do have difficulty dealing with the characters their writing should probably think of switching fields.
Really this doesn’t just apply to Tim and Jason. I’m tired of seeing DC butcher all of their characters. They’ve used the ‘New 52’ as an excuse to take characters which have already been established and use them as a template for completely new characters. In my opinion, that’s as lazy as you can get. They should have followed Marvel’s lead with the Ultimate line and printed the New 52 as something occurring on another Earth (instead of using Flashpoint as an excuse to ’re-write’ the multi-verse. Again, lazy writing).

It was creative desperation because that’s when a man really begins to think hard, and of course it hearkens me back to the creation of The Hulk, which I told you about, and this woman who lifted a car. If you want to do it, you can lift a buildings. I’m not saying you can, and I’m not saying you can’t get a hernia, but I’m not ruling out that you might possibly, if you find the right niche, you might possibly lift that building. Maybe not far. Maybe an inch above the ground. Maybe it’s not a large building, but you can do it. I’ve seen man do everything. I think Man is the kind of animal that is capable of doing anything, whether it’s good or heinous; whether it’s easy or horribly, horribly difficult.

What would be going on at DC if I were in charge (lol):
- Judd Winick would be the only person allowed to write Jason Todd.
- Scott Snyder would be kept on Batman indefinitely.
- Brad Meltzer would be allowed to do whatever the fuck he wants.
- Scott Lobdell would be shot in the face.
- Greg Tocchini, Francesco Francavilla, Robert Teranishi, and Jock would be drawing all of the bat-titles.
- Adam Hughes would get to draw whatever the fuck he wants.
- Grant Morrison would be allowed to write any male character of his choosing (I’d keep him away from female characters though, since he’s always botching shit).
- Geoff Johns would probably be on Aquaman and Flash forever.
- Jeph Loeb would get another Superman/Batman title and whatever else he wanted to write.
- Jim Lee would get smacked and I’d let him know that, as pretty as his art is, he isn’t the greatest artist in the world. I’d probably put him on said Aquaman title or something.
- Marv Wolfman would be brought in to try and fix the disastrous Teen Titans title.
So many other things, but I don’t have the time to sit here and write a novel about what’s wrong with DC (just kidding, I do have the time, I’m just not going to do it).
