    It Hurts the Most (OG) by Thug Life (Big Stretch, 2Pac, Mopreme Shakur)

    I love the unreleased Thug Life stuff. Solid, poetic verses on top of simple, but perfect beats.

    And it was all orchestrated by one man, who felt compelled to push the limits of consciousness and lavishness while internally and externally engaged in warfare with life threatening forces.

    Tupac was the first rapper to sell inspiring lyrics just as well as he sold the more frivolous things in life. A feat, now, that many rappers attempt but only a few have captured. But even after more than a decade, no one quite embodies that dualistic aura of the rose that grew from concrete.

    2pac (Ft. The Outlawz) – Letter To The President 

    When I’m feeling uninspired or just generally not feeling ‘it’, I have this list of things that I consult for inspiration and enthusiasm. It’s a fairly small list, nevertheless, Tupac’s music is near the top. There’s this unwavering sense of truth and a scream for justice behind every one of his verses. For me, his music has always been a beacon of hope. It shows that perseverance always reigns supreme.

    Okay, I’m missing Cali. I admit it. And this song really captures the essence of what the air feels like out there.

    It’s mostly a 2Pac solo jaunt with some weird half verses from Stretch and Mopreme. But man does it make you want to have a BBQ in the back of a convertible on an orange afternoon.

    Such a great song.
