The thing under my bed waiting to grab my ankle isn’t real. I know that, and I also know that if I’m careful to keep my foot under the covers, it will never be able to grab my ankle— Stephen King

Time Enough For Love was awesome. To Sail Beyond The Sunset was really, reeeeally weird, but I liked it. Heinlein is one of the few authors that can weave an obscene amount of sex into a good story. And the only author I’ve ever read that does it as often, as he does it well.

Sex should be friendly. Otherwise stick to mechanical toys; it’s more sanitary.— Robert A. Heinlein

Ghost in the Shell
The anime and manga series Ghost in the Shell takes place in a cyberpunk version of Earth in the near future. The series focuses on Japan but several other nations figure prominently in some stories. The world of Ghost in the Shell features significant advances in technology, the most significant of which is the cyberbrain, a mechanical casing for the human brain that allows mental interface with the Internet and other networks.
I, somehow, had no idea that present day United States was split up like this in GitS. I figured the American Empire was all, or at least most, of present day U.S. I didn’t realize there was still a body that was recognized as the United States of America in the show. I’ll have to go back and watch the series. How weird.
