I do not, and I hope I never shall, admit that sex is a thing to be treated as if it were of no great consequence. You can make all sorts of jokes about it, mostly lewd (I’ve made them myself) but at the bottom of his heart every decent man feels that his approach to the woman he loves is an approach to a shrine.

It is like a sudden scream in the night, but there is no sound. Almost always at night, because the dark hours are the hours of danger. But it has happened to me also in broad daylight ― that strange, clarified moment when I suddenly know something I have no reason for knowing. Unless out of the long years and the long tensions, and in the present case, the abrupt certainty that what bullfighters call “the moment of truth” is here.

New Images of Pluto
NASA’s released new images captured of the surface of Pluto. This includes regions of scale-like texture (top) and a strange, textured surface surrounding some ice mountains (bottom).
Over the course of the next year, NASA will be receiving pictures from the Pluto exploration spacecraft, New Horizons.

How could I not post Pluto’s landscapes with dramatic backlighting from the sun?
Just 15 minutes after its closest approach to Pluto on July 14, 2015,
NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft looked back toward the sun and captured
this near-sunset view of the rugged, icy mountains and flat ice plains
extending to Pluto’s horizon. The image was taken
from a distance of 11,000 miles (18,000 kilometers) to Pluto; the scene
is 780 miles (1,250 kilometers) wide.
