Legends of The Dark Knight #3 by Denny O’Neil and Ed Hannigan

I wonder what Gotham’s elite has to say about Bruce behind his back.

“That Bruce Wayne is one clumsy motherfucker.”

There is a myth loose on the land that trying to teach or learn how to write a story is some kind of fraud, like selling shares in the Brooklyn Bridge.

I come to testify that this is false. You can do both. You most certainly can learn how to write fiction and you can teach it, too. The result will most likely be neither fame nor fortune, but rather the best kind of education there is.

My experience conforms to the sow’s ear maxim. Intelligence is the essence of a good writer. If you don’t have that in some degree there is s slim chance of developing expertise at the short story or novel.

    the-comics-sans:

Talk about an awesome weekend of experimental Batman art! This last Saturday and Sunday Francesco Francavilla put all of us Black Beetle fans through the ringer as he showed off some amazing Batman 1935 concept art! Of course this was one of the highlights of my weekend, however it also made me feel pretty crappy as I came to the realization that this series will probably never happen. C’mon DC, let’s give this man at LEAST a one-shot issue …or an entire ongoing.

If you don’t follow Francavilla on Twitter then you’re missing out on some great stuff.

Note: These 8 images are the compilation of everything he posted for this series this weekend.

No writing is wasted. Did you know that sourdough from San Francisco is leavened partly by a bacteria called lactobacillus sanfrancisensis? It is native to the soil there, and does not do well elsewhere. But any kitchen can become an ecosystem. If you bake a lot, your kitchen will become a happy home to wild yeasts, and all your bread will taste better. Even a failed loaf is not wasted. Likewise, cheese makers wash the dairy floor with whey. Tomato gardeners compost with rotten tomatoes. No writing is wasted: the words you can’t put in your book can wash the floor, live in the soil, lurk around in the air. They will make the next words better.
