The waver in Bruce’s voice here is something I hadn’t noticed the first time I read Infinite Crisis, especially since I read it before Under the Red Hood. Without the pause, the statement would just be a casual checkup, but with that hesitation there you can just hear Bruce’s relief and fear. And emotional constipation.
