I want to start a writing blog like yours- do you have any starter tips (for followers, blog format, etc)? I have so much piled up from writing over the past year or two.

I am extremely flattered that you would turn to me for suggestions.

1. Get yourself involved with the writing community on Tumblr. Follow other writers, and actually read their work. Allow them to help with inspiring you and teaching you to be a better writer. I think it is so important to see how others create in order to help yourself be more willing to share your own thoughts.

2. This isn’t necessarily directed towards you in particular because you’ve noted that you have already been writing, but do not ever stop. Even if you aren’t posting it here on Tumblr, always write. It is so easy to lose your voice when you let life get in the way of your expression. 

3. As for followers, there really isn’t a step by step manual on how to get people to follow you. All I can really say in regards to this question is that your words will do all the talking for you. If people relate to what you are writing about, they will be more likely to follow you. 

4. When it comes to themes and formatting, (in my opinion) the simpler, the better. When people come to view your blog, you want the focus to be on your words, not on the crazy exciting theme you’ve chosen. There are quite a few different options at your disposal. I have a fairly substantial list of theme makers if you are in need of some direction.
