Tupac Shakur (born Lesane Parish Crooks) is one of the most influential voices in music.
With a charisma and raps that sparked generations filled with raging hormones and unanswered questions, Tupac served as both leader and commoner to droves of people within the Hip-Hop culture.
The cold winds of East Coast raps mixed with the smooth West Coast sounds, making way for a catchy revolutionary spirit to sweep not just the nation but the entire world.
And it was all orchestrated by one man, who felt compelled to push the limits of consciousness and lavishness while internally and externally engaged in warfare with life threatening forces.
Tupac was the first rapper to sell inspiring lyrics just as well as he sold the more frivolous things in life. A feat, now, that many rappers attempt but only a few have captured. But even after more than a decade, no one quite embodies that dualistic aura of the rose that grew from concrete.
